The Auckland University Judo Club is an affiliated member of the New Zealand Judo Federation (NZJF). Our style fuses Kosen and contemporary Olympic Judo. The club was founded in 1960 by Jerry Van Kylenburg. The club's most prominent sensei was Rick Littlewood (8th Dan, from Kodokan Judo and the NZJF). He represented New Zealand in the 1972 Munich Olympics. Our club strives to continue the tradition that Rick promoted, mixing modern competition judo with classic kosen judo newaza, with the goal of molding well-rounded judoka.
